Promo’s, Gadget’s and Radio waves… What a month!

Welcome to the month of March 2012!

Microsoft is running a promotion from the 18th of February until the 30th of March 2012 that we thought you might be able to take advantage of.

To enter, all that you need to do is purchase one (1) copy of either Microsoft Windows 7 Professional with a new PC, or as a standalone product, Microsoft Office Home & Business 2010 or Microsoft Small Business Server 2010 Essentials during the promotion period, then simply browse to the competition URL which is http://www.microsoft.com.au/spotlight and in 25 words or less tell Microsoft ‘How you would spent $5,000 to promote your business’.

Each entry is based on creativity, merit and originality.

If you’re in the market for upgrading to Windows 7 Pro, or Office 2010, then perhaps this is the perfect opportunity to upgrade whilst getting some money out of Microsoft for a change!

To coincide with this promotion EtherTech are offering specials for these qualifying Microsoft products as well.

In further news this month, Apple are launching the new iPad 3 on March 7th in the US.

The new version has been surrounded by rumours for months including full support for the new 4G LTE network, aesthetically pleasing improved design (whatever that means), but the most significant rumour being that the iPad3 may have the new Apple A6 Processor. Rumoured to be a Quad-core CPU that will make the new iPad 3 a multi-taskers dream, allowing you to run more applications and more powerful than ever before.

The bad news however is that the new iPad 3 is rumoured to be substantially more expensive than the current iPad 2S. As always, we’ll have to wait and see later next week.

Speaking of the 4G LTE network, (which is Telstra’s new wireless network and an upgrade to the current 3G network), we were lucky enough to have one of the latest 4G USB Wireless dongles in our office two weeks ago for testing.

In summary, the speeds are surprisingly FAST!  Even here at our office in Dandenong where we don’t have the world’s best coverage, we were constantly achieving over 18Mbps download and 3mb upload speeds.  When we moved it to Richmond into a known 4G coverage area, we achieved speeds of 24Mbps download and 9Mbps upload! That’s a HUGE improvement over the current 3G network!

The only reservation we have is what will happen once the network starts to have more than just us on the network..   Stay tuned and we will see you next month!
